What is SFAFI
The Simplified Financial Aid File Interface (SFAFI) provides a way to automate the sending and receiving of files with COD, CPS, and other Federal systems through the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). What does that alphabet soup mean? It means that the time your staff spends sitting in front of Edconnect can be used for something else. The Department of Education provides two different tools for sending and receiving the majority of the files required for financial aid processing. The first, and most familiar, is Edconnect, it is fairly easy to use, but very manual. A person has to initiate transfers and choose files. The second tool is TDClient, which is very flexible and can be used in an automated way. Unfortunately, it is quite complex to use. SFAFI provides an easy to use web interface around the TDClient tool which allows you to configure the automated transfer of files between your school and the Federal systems.

Faster Turn Around Time with SFAFI
The Simplified Financial Aid File Interface (SFAFI) can poll The Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) and your Financial Aid Management System (FAMS) every 15 minutes for new files to transmit or receive. Your files arrive when they are available, based on a schedule you set, not when you have time to check Edconnect, or on a fixed nightly scheduled run.
